Qui Qui is from chefs Ismael Mendez and Yorman Sanchez, who started the roving enterprise two years ago will be cooking a menu of traditional and reinvented Latin American dishes. They are joined by Pastry Chef Alicia Wang.
Mendez ditched a D.C. finance job to study at L’Academie de Cuisine, going on to work alongside top D.C. chefs Frank Ruta, Nicholas Stefanelli, and Opie Crooks. His passion to pursue cooking came at an early age while watching his mom cook traditional Mexican cuisine and from spending time in his father's native Puerto Rico.
Chef Yorman Sanchez is from Caracas, Venezuela, but grew up in sunny Miami, Florida. He can trace his roots in the industry through his father, who was a successful Pastry Chef. He embarked on his culinary journey in New York City, Miami, and settled in Washington, DC in 2017 working at Osteria Morini and A Rake’s Progress.
